Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato

Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato is a typical dish of Portuguese cuisine, from Estremadura region. It’s believed that the name of this dish s a tribute to the Portuguese poet Raimundo António de Bulhão Pato after he mentioned a cook in his writings.
According to the book “Practical Dictionary of Portuguese Cuisine”, this is a typical Lisbon dish, from the old Restaurant Estrela de Ouro, in Graça. Another one, the “Gastronomic Culture in Portugal”, refers that Clams to Bulhão Pato was born on the same place.
It’s a very common dish in seafood restaurants and breweries. The dish is made of clams, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon. Some recipes adds white wine. But it’s really easy to do at home. With the right ingredients and spices you can get an amazing dish of Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato.
